AMADOR WATER AGENCY
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING
A TREATED WATER SHORTAGE EMERGENCY IN THE IONE WATER TREATMENT PLANT SERVICE AREA
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Amador Water Agency will hold a public
hearing at special board meeting on Friday, January 12, 2024, starting at 10:00 a.m., to receive
public comments on the Agency’s proposed Resolution declaring an emergency due to the
unavailability of additional water treatment capacity in the Ione Water Treatment Plant. AWA’s
Board of Directors is conducting its meetings both in person and online utilizing Zoom. Log in
information will be published with the posted meeting agenda at the Agency’s offices and on its
website at https://amadorwater.org/board-directors/board-minutes-agendas/.
The proposed Resolution would impose a moratorium on new will serve commitments and new
connections, with certain identified exceptions. The Resolution would remain in effect until
additional treatment capacity improvements can be completed. The Ione Water Treatment Plant serves
the City of Ione and Eagles Nest and Eagles Ranch areas.

Capacity Study (2022), which are available on the Agency’s website at
information/information-policies-reports/or a copy may be viewed at the Agency’s office at 12800 Ridge Road.
